Eastes Lodge No.1965 was consecrated on 17th May 1882 at the Bell Hotel, Bromley, Kent. The Lodge was named after the late V.W.Bro. James Smith Eastes PGD, the Deputy Provincial Master of Kent, a very distinguished Mason. He was a regular member of the Lodge and frequently attended. He died on 3rd November 1902 in Ashford, Kent. He installed the first Master W.Bro. Robert Clay Sudlow.
The Lodge has moved a number of times, first to the parish rooms in Bromley and then into London to the Holborn Viaduct Hotel in 1912 and then in 1916 to Holborn Restaurant. The Lodge was very fortunate in not losing any of its members in either of the World Wars. 1954 brought more moves, into the Piccadilly Hotel, The Shaftesbury Hotel in 1968 and the Park Court Hotel in 1975, where it remained until what we thought was to be our permanent home, Clerkenwell Masonic Centre. However, this was not to be, as the listed building required a considerable amount of repairs. So in 2013 we moved again, this time to the Civil Service Club in Great Scotland Yard, which was to be our last London home. The Shirley Woolmer Masonic Centre had space for this once Kent Lodge to return to its roots, which we did in 2022.
Over the last 140+ years this Lodge has been, and will continue to be, a responsible Lodge with regards to charities both Masonic and local. Eastes Lodge has always given a warm welcome to everyone who visits and gives friendly, patient help to all new members.
